Communications & Industrial Electronics Corporation is a private communication company with over 60 years of experience in Puerto Rico. We serve government entities, public safety agencies, businesses and industries. Our technicians are very qualified and licensed by the FCC to program, repair and install all our radio communications equipment.
We have also been authorized by the FCC to place our customers into immediate operation with private channels in the trunked 800MHz band with 54 channels, all in 11 mountain tops in Puerto Rico. Our goal is to assist our customers in the design and development of their two-way radio communications to improve their efficiency and keep them connected.
Our two-way radio systems operate in VHF, UHF, 700 MHz and 800 MHz frequency bands with voice, data and GPS options, among others. All our trunking protocols have capability in P25 and conventional for interoperability systems. Our trunking protocols include EDACS and Opensky MPT 1327 from L3Harris and Tait.

From 1954 to 1966 our company was part of General Electric. During that time, our founder and president, Mr. Mariano E. Ruiz López, expanded our business constantly with private enterprises and many government agencies. They were all completely satisfied, and we had 80% of the market in Puerto Rico. In 1966, we negotiated with GE to buy the representation of mobile radio products from them and established our own company. That year, Communications and Industrial Electronics Corp. was born as an independent company.
Our expansion and innovation continued through the years. In 1979 we provided radio communication for the Pan American Games, the Police department, the municipality of San Juan, the US Navy and other organizations related to the games. We have provided radio communication systems for the municipalities of Bayamón and Guaynabo and government agencies like PREPA and AAA. During the 80s, 8 of our repeaters operated with solar power and we established the first trunked system in Puerto Rico. In the beginning of the 21st century, we attained full compliance with FCC mandatory projects of re-banding and narrow-banding. In 2015, we converted UHF and 800MHz frequencies to digital.
We have 11 communications sites at mountain tops with 54 trunked repeaters for your use. We also are a SMR licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This allows us to license anyone to use our trunked repeaters operating in the 800 mhz. We have a variety of digital repeaters, mobile radios and portable radios available. We are representing L3Harris, Tait, Hytera and Talkpod brands in Puerto Rico. Any lawful enterprise can receive immediate communications service from our SMR system.
